AboutI am a thirty-seven year old father of two young boys (aged 4 and 6). Together with my wife of nine years, we live in the small city of Pitt Meadows, B.C. about 35km east of Vancouver.In September of 2008, our lives were changed forever with the news that I have been diagnosed with GIST.
As those of you who have also been touched by this disease know, nobody can prepare you for that moment when you learn the news, and everybody reacts differently to the knowledge that life as you know it will never be the same. My wife and I have decided to devote ourselves to beating cancer.
You see when the doctor informed us that that I had GIST cancer, we had no idea what we were dealing with. No wonder, because this thing is so rare. We also had difficulty finding any Canadian resources on the subject. Thus this website was born, in the hope that others in Canada who find themselves facing the unknown will at least have a starting point from which to begin their learning, and healing.
